Digital business cards in India: how they work and what they cost

· by the TAP IN HERE team

A digital business card is a web page that does the job of a paper card: your name, what you do, how to reach you and what you offer. Instead of handing over a piece of card stock, you share a link — and the person opens it by tapping an NFC card, scanning a QR code or clicking the link in WhatsApp.

Why they suit how India already works

Most first contact in India already happens on a phone. A shop owner shares a WhatsApp number, a consultant sends a PDF brochure, a freelancer pastes three links into a chat. A digital card puts all of that behind one address, so the next message you send is tapinhere.com/yourname instead of five separate things.

It also fixes the problem paper cards never solved: they go out of date. Change your number, move to a new office or add a service, and the card everyone already has shows the new details, because it is a live page rather than printed text.

What a good digital card should include

How people open it: tap, scan or link

The same link works everywhere. Print it as a QR code on your counter, packaging or visiting card. Write it to an NFC card or sticker so a phone can open it with a tap. Paste it in your Instagram bio, email signature or WhatsApp Business profile. Our guide to NFC vs QR business cards covers which to use where.

What it costs

On TAP IN HERE the core card is free, forever: an individual or business profile with contact details, social links, WhatsApp, call and email actions, QR codes, vCard sharing and a listing in Discover. Paid plans start at ₹99 a month (or ₹999 a year) and add a products and services catalog with customer reviews. See pricing for the full comparison.

The only other cost is optional: printed QR material or NFC cards, if you want something physical to hand over.

More than a card: being found

A paper card only reaches people you have already met. A published profile can also be found by people nearby who are looking for what you do — through Discover, and through the Requests board, where people post what they need and you can respond privately.
